In 2008 Norland Wind celebrated their 15th anniversary. It was 1993 when Kerstin and I started off as a duo. The band has been growing ever since.

Thanks to you, our dear friends and supporters out there!

Have a look at the  15 years of Norland Wind gallery.

See you soon somewhere near you,

Norland Wind 1993

New
release November 2008:

Thomas Loefke & friends - Departures
Early Travels to the Celtic Northwest       Laika Records 3510247.2

This new release is a compilation of recordings from the albums "New Music for Celtic Harp" and "Norland Wind" which have been out of print for a couple of years.
The recordings were wonderfully remastered by
Jörg Surrey and I am happy that these tunes are now back out there for you to listen to and enjoy.

"New Music for Celtic Harp" was recorded 1992 together with Ian Melrose and Peter Jakk. Ian and I had been working together for years and the CD reflected very well the programme we were playing at the time.

The album "Norland Wind" followed 1994, released on the Irish label Celtic Heartbeat. With Ian and Peter, Kerstin Blodig and Clannad's Noel and Pádraig Duggan all the members of the later 1996 Norland Wind line up feature on the album. Máire Breatnach who joined Norland Wind in 2000 is among the guest musicians along with Clannad keyboarder Ciarán Brennan and Kerstin`s Touchwood partner Cristina Crawley.

New release November 2008:

Thomas Loefke & Lutz Gerlach -
Silent Conspiration  LGM-records

Lutz Gerlach - Grand Piano, Keyboards

Thomas Loefke - Celtic Harp

Lutz Gerlach, Pianist and composer from Ahrenshoop/Germany, and Thomas met for the first time last May for a concert. So they formed the “probably first ever Grand Piano / Celtic harp duo”. The unusual sound can be heard now on a CD with compositions by Lutz and Thomas.

The Canada tour with Acoustic Eidolon and a solo concert in Victoria on Vancouver Island gave Thomas the opportunity to do the journey he has been dreaming of for a long time: The Skeena train from Jaspers in the Rocky Mountains along the Skeena River to Prince Rupert on the Pacific coast and further on by ship through the Inside Passage to Vancouver Island - a phantastic 4 day trip in the northwest of Canada. Of course he got inspiration for a new tune: ”The Skeena”. Pictures of the trip are on the gallery of the month page.

Kerstin Blodig - Nordisk Sjel (Nordic Soul) Westpark Music 87160

Kerstin's new album "Nordisk Sjel" is a collection of her favourite songs from her projects Kelpie, Talking Water and her solo program together with new songs written in collaboration with Scottish songwriter and producer Bob Melrose. With lush pop sounds, or minimalistic folk patterns, with cheerful and melancholic moods, full of dreams and visions and with a great sense of humour Kerstin takes us on a musical journey from Norway across the North sea to Scotland and back home to the land of trolls and elfs, breathtaking landscapes and fascinating myths and folklore.

New instrumental CD "Northern Isles" with new compositions for Celtic harp:

Thomas Loefke & friends - Northern Isles
Harp Instrumentals from the Celtic Northwest       Laika Records 3510219.2

Islands in the North Atlantic, like Tory Island - the Irish island of legend and myth, the Hebridean Island of Staffa or the wild archipelago of the Faroe Islands situated between the Shetlands and Iceland - these are the places where Thomas spends a considerable amount of time every year to compose music. Dramatic coastal landscapes, the wide open space of the Atlantic ocean and the ever changing sky reflect in the pieces of music written there.

Many of these tunes are part of Norland Wind's musical program, and now they are on CD.

On "Northern Isles" Thomas is joined by his friends and colleagues of Norland Wind and Acoustic Eidolon:
Ian Melrose (guitar, low whistle, synth), Máire Breatnach (fiddle, viola), Kerstin Blodig (guitar, bouzouki, bodhrán, vocals), Noel Duggan (guitar), Pádraig Duggan (mandolin), Hannah Alkire (cello) and
Joe Scott (double neck guitjo, guitar, whistles).

Acoustic Eidolon and Thomas are just back from a tour in Canada, their collaboration will continue with a German tour in October 2009.

The 7th CD “River of Fire“ has been just released (Nov. 2008)
